Took delivery yesterday of my AWD Prem. A few initial thoughts:-
Can’t get the Ford Pass Connect activated no matter what. Dealer is stumped too. Says no internet connection despite 4 bars on the 4G modem showing as connected and privacy set to share. I’m pretty tech savvy and followed all the instructions and troubleshooting including master reset but to no avail. Can’t find any videos that are specific to the Explorer though. Why you can’t use your phone as the modem who knows?
Steering wheel buttons VERY sensitive - heel of my left thumb keeps triggering cruise control!!
Regenerative braking is taking some getting used to
Overall I can see the car changing my driving habits to be far more efficient to save energy - although as my employer offers free charging that may not prove to be the case.
Given comments about the app being underwhelming maybe I’m not missing much. In terms of the car though I love it. It’s my 17th new Ford and despite the software niggles, the best.
Initial Thoughts
Hello,
I picked up the Explorer AWD two days ago, and I haven’t been able to connect it to the Ford Pass app in any way. It always tells me I need to enable vehicle connectivity (which is already activated).
Have you managed to solve this issue somehow, or should I take it to the dealership?
Thank you.

Hi. Picked up our Explorer awd premium just before Christmas and have the same issue with connectivity. Contacted Ford and after checking against the VIN say it’s an issue with the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) and ours has been fitted with one from a faulty batch (!?). Main dealer has ordered a new one but on back order from Germany so who knows how long!
