Tracking order for new Ford Explorer

I would like to track the progress of the order for new Ford Explorer - according to the dealer it's gone from 6-8 wks to delivery, to "in production", to "due to go on the assembly line and delivery w/e 21 June" but, on visiting to chase progress again today that last info is now blank.
Throughout I've been trying to track progress myself via both the Ford Order Tracking website, a Canadian version of same and via my newly set up Ford Account. However, each gives a different result showing either the "order no. is invalid" or the "order no. and VIN do not match a corresponding order" OR, via the new Ford Account where you just enter the VIN it shows an accurate pic of the car but for few weeks shows "undefined" and no more.
The dealer has stated I should be able to track and the "contract number" provided is the correct 8 digit number to put in the order no. field and has verified the VIN no.
I called Ford Customer Services, who stated I should be able to track via the Ford Account and I should contact the dealership. Having done that (again), they are mystified as several of their customers seem to be having problems.
Anyone tried using the Ford online new car order tracking using VIN and order no.or via a Ford Account, using just the VIN no with any success?
Any tips//ideas please re what I may be doing wrong?
